UK CPI YoY Stands at 2.2%, British Pound Volatile During Release - 16.10.2012


UK Consumer Price Index rose as expected by 2.2 per cent from Sep 2011 to Sep 2012 down from 2.5 per cent in August according to the Office of National Statistics. In monthly terms the UK CPI rose by 0.4 per cent in September slightly less compared to the previous month.
Additionally, the Producers Output Price Index for UK manufactured goods rose by 2.5 per cent in the year to September 2012 compared to a 2.3 per cent increase in August. The British pound traded to a fresh weekly high above 1.6096 earlier today against the US dollar, however after the UK CPI release the currency pair fell modestly to 1.6087.
